We have now brought “ENINJAY” down to the Kennet & Avon Canal at Aldermaston, a simply wonderful experience, the boat behaved perfectly, both on the two rivers, Thames & Kennet, and also on the canals, and Jo and myself are very pleased and proud of your creation.
We have had numerous visits from friends and work colleagues, all with the same comments about the quality of the finished product, the light and open living area and so on. Suddenly our idea of living aboard a narrowboat has gone form being totally crazy to one of envy and “wish I was doing it” in their eyes.
I have to say, that after over 30 years in business, placing the contract with you to build “ENINJAY” has been ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS. Your pride and commitment to the job is obvious to all, the quality is excellent, your advice always honest and much sought after by myself all in all, a hassle free operation with the product being almost 100% right (I need an extra battery and a slightly larger holding tank)!
I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending potential buyers to your services, and if I decide to go on to a 60ft Dutch Barge for doing the European
Rivers, it will almost certainly be to you that I shall turn.

Dear John,
It is now just over a month since we took delivery of “GLENGARRY” and nearly two weeks since we moved her to the marina.

I thought I should let you know how pleased we are with the boat. The entire project has taken just over a year since my first enquiry. As you know we had a boat previously and had some views as to what we wanted. At all times you have been most helpful and very patient in listening to our ideas and occasionally pointing us in the right direction! The finished result is superb and has fulfilled our expectations and more in every way.
The boat handles very well and has already received much favourable comment. The attention to detail of the interior woodwork is particularly notable...

“OUT LAKIN” Was a first for both of us and John and Pauline. It’s our first boat and the first boat that John had built to a customer’s specification.
We were often told “you never get your first boat right”. Well we believe that she’s 99% what we wanted and we are very happy with the result. John has been very helpful in giving us guidance in what would work and what wouldn’t and he was absolutely right.
All our equipment works exactly as we thought and the layout is perfect. The finish of the boat is a testament to john’s excellent carpentry skills-we have an all wooden interior and laminated wooden floor and Wynn has done a simply super job of the curtains and cushions.
We are really looking forward to living on “out Lakin” through 2001/02. See you on the CUT.

16-07-01 NARROW BOAT “MYSTERY”

Dear John,
After cruising for three months, just had to let you know how happy we are with our
Boat, “MYSTERY”. Although she wasn’t intended as a live aboard she has served us well in that capacity. We have always been delighted with the high standard of your fit-out obviously built with pride. She has been much admired by friends a fellow boaters.

So there it is, one HAPPY CUSTOMER. Just to add if we decided to go for a bigger boat in the future it will be you we will turn to.

Good luck with you new showboat. We would also like to say to any future customer that not only are you standards of work high; you are also a very honest and helpful person to do business with.

Hi John,
Hope you are well (and busy). Just a few lines to let you know my thoughts following the completion of “SHIRAZ” at Northern Marine Services.

From our first meeting, I was more than impressed by the way you conducted yourself, the very good advice you gave me, and the total honesty. From the choice of shell to the recommendations regarding the fit, all proved to the excellent decisions. The quality of the work is outstanding!

Dear John,

Three months on from leaving The Bridgewater Canal and Northern Marine Services – 200 engine hours on the clock. We have visited our home moorings at Langley Mill, then as you know down to Crick Boat Show 2003. We are now on The Chesterfield Canal until September when we return to Langley Mill for the winter.

We are absolutely delighted with your workmanship and attention to detail. Though Bracken is not a live aboard, the quality of fixtures and fittings have led people to assume that she is. Friends visiting Bracken have been very impressed with her (the comfort level surprises them). We would change nothing in the design, the galley area works really well and the shower and loo is the envy of many. The engine has been given a very good test on the tidal River Trent and has performed perfectly.

We also appreciate your “extra care” after the boat was completed in December 2002, allowing us to visit and use Bracken until we could leave in March 2003 after the winter stoppages.

We have no hesitation in recommending you and the workmanship at Northern Marine Services, and are more than happy to speak to – or let prospective purchaser’s view Bracken.
